I bought my first Turtle Beach headset a while back and I love it. It's the first comfortable headset I haven't broken within 6 months.
So from now on, I will buy TB. If I can ever afford them, I might get a wireless headset one day.
I have the Earforce X11's as of right now. http://www.turtlebea...-force-x11.aspx
But that's classified as a 360 headset even though it works fine as a PC headset. They have a PC section as well. http://www.turtlebeach.com/
As far as the mic goes, I can't speak for the quality because I don't often hear myself, but however my mic sounds in the past year or more is the quality of it.

I don't have any experience with headsets, but I'll tell you all the mics used in Shelmo. Based on how you'd like your voice to sound, you can listen to these examples and get the mic that works best for you.
Magilla and Grinder used a Blue Snowflake in episode one, and Buu in episode two:
http://www.amazon.co...29280581&sr=8-1
Miranda and the Announcer both used a Blue Snowball:
http://www.amazon.co...29280863&sr=1-1
Rex in episode one used some type of generic Logitech mic, in episode two and beyond he used a Blue Yeti:
http://www.amazon.co...29280937&sr=1-1
Grinder in episode three used a Logitech Gaming Headset (Similar to this one, but I don't know the exact model):
http://www.amazon.co...29280971&sr=8-4
I'm not sure what Freaky used, but it was a Plantronics Headset (Hopefully she'll provide a model number).
Anyway, hope that helps. Jack Fat is the person you want to talk to if you're serious about audio recording, though I don't think he could recommend anything at the $75 level.

Yeah, I have this microphone:
http://www.cyberacou...phones/CVL-1124
I would NOT recommend it, although it's easy to velcro and mount to my monitor ( I'd hope a microphone like that would automatically have a mount for a monitor, and no velcro needed, but not happening here...).

On a side note. I wish people would actually learn how to review, and only review the product and only the product and stop including external factors in the rating. " This works great but shipping took 2 weeks. ONE STAR!" Fuck you sir/ma'am.

Maybe so I had a bad experince, was just expressing my feelings.. And I didn't leave a comment on there, there was enopugh talk of DOA didn't think another would change anyone's mind. lol But since a friend had one I and he said it was good I thought hey there's no way I would be that 3% or less, or more well I was. lol

Decided I need a headset last night, and got this today:
http://www.trittonus.../prod/ax720.asp
It'll serve me well for PC and PS3
